The Find

 

I found this old 65’ Ford Mustang convertible in Greenville SC in July 2006. The shop is called ‘Classic Cars of South Carolina’ and is located on I26 South.

 

Visible rust is to be found around the whole body. However, the main frame is still in good condition.

 

The original V6 engine was replaced by 289ci V8 with a manual 4-speed transmission.

 

As you can see on the pictures, the interior is in bad condition. The convertible top was replaced in U.S and the rest will be changed during the restoration.

 

According to the documents I have, the car was driven until 1993. The vehicle had just one pre-owner and was only moved in the south of U.S.

 

The car was packed into my moving container in February 2007 and arrived in Landshut, Germany beginning of April 2007.

 

 


 

 








I started the project in April 2007. The car was completely disassembled and sandblasted until December 2007. Currently, I am working on the body to replace the damaged sheet metal parts.
